Rachel Salem received her bachelor’s of science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and master’s of science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Old Dominion University, where she gained a strong foundation in her knowledge of evidenced-based practices, therapeutic approaches, and language facilitation techniques.

Rachel has had diverse experiences working with individuals across the lifespan within different settings, including early intervention, outpatient pediatrics, skilled nursing, adult outpatient rehabilitation, and an autism spectrum disorder center. She has also had extensive experience and training in providing voice therapy services, helping patients to heal and explore their true voices. Rachel values opportunities to continue to grow and engage in creative problem-solving within an interdisciplinary team, as she believes in treating individuals holistically.

In direct therapy, Rachel integrates a coaching model to help caregivers feel well-equipped for facilitating their own loved one’s treatment approaches at home. She believes quality therapy shouldn’t require individuals buy expensive toys/equipment/software, but rather teach new ways to utilize items already in your own home. Providing services that are evidenced-based, culturally competent, and functional for patient’s day-to-day lives are her highest priority.

Based on her work, she firmly believes quality therapy services start with basics that are overlooked in traditional settings: building human connections. She wants her patients to feel seen, heard, and respected on their communication journey, just as they are. Most importantly, she wants to provide a safe place for individuals to play and discover the power of their words.

Thank you for allowing Rachel to join you on this journey toward growth and explore with you all the beautiful pathways to finding your voice.
